Apply for New Voter ID (Form 6 – New Registration)

Any Indian citizen aged 18 years or above on the qualifying date (1st January of the year) can apply for a new Voter ID. You can apply online using Form 6 on the NVSP portal or via the Voter Helpline mobile app.

Steps to Apply Online for Voter ID:

  1. Visit NVSP Portal: Go to nvsp.in.
  2. Click on "Form 6": Under the “Online Forms” section, select “Form 6 – New Registration”.
  3. Fill Details: Enter your personal details – Name, Date of Birth, Age, Gender, Parent/Spouse name, etc.
  4. Enter Address: Provide your current residential address with PIN code. The portal will suggest your Assembly/Parliamentary constituency.
  5. Upload Documents: Upload scanned copies of Passport-size Photo (White background), Age Proof (Birth Certificate/Class 10 Marksheet), and Address Proof (Aadhaar/Electricity Bill/Passport).
  6. OTP Verification: Enter the OTP sent to your registered mobile number and email.
  7. Submit: Click on “Submit”. Note down the Application Reference ID for future tracking.
Tip: You can also apply offline by visiting your nearest Booth Level Officer (BLO) or Electoral Registration Office (ERO) with filled Form 6 and documents.

Correction / Update in Voter ID (Form 8)

If your Voter ID has errors (Name, Address, DOB, Photo) or you have shifted to a new address within the same constituency or to a different constituency, you must submit Form 8 for correction.

Steps for Online Correction via Form 8:

  1. Visit NVSP: Go to nvsp.in and click on “Form 8 – Correction”.
  2. Login/Enter EPIC Number: Enter your Voter ID (EPIC) Number and verify with OTP.
  3. Select Fields to Update: Choose the details you wish to correct (e.g., Name, Address, Date of Birth, Photo, Mobile Number).
  4. Upload Supporting Documents: Upload valid proof for the changes (e.g., New Address Proof for address change).
  5. Submit Request: After submission, you will receive an Application Reference ID.
  6. Verification: The BLO will verify your documents. You will be notified via SMS/email once the correction is approved.
Note: If you have shifted to a different constituency, you must fill Form 6 (New registration for the new constituency) and Form 7 to delete your name from the old constituency.

Voter ID Application Status & Electoral Roll Search

Once you apply for a new Voter ID or correction, you can track the progress. You can also check if your name is already in the voter list.

Track Application Status:

  1. Visit NVSP Status Page: Go to nvsp.in/Forms/Forms/trackstatus.
  2. Enter Reference ID: Input your Application Reference ID (received after submission).
  3. Enter Mobile/OTP: Verify with OTP sent to your registered mobile.
  4. View Status: The system will show the current stage – Submitted, Under Verification with BLO, Approved, or Rejected.

Search Your Name in Voter List (Electoral Roll):

  1. Visit Electoral Search Portal: Go to electoralsearch.eci.gov.in.
  2. Select State/District: Choose your state, district, and assembly constituency.
  3. Enter Details: Search by Name, EPIC Number, or Date of Birth.
  4. View Details: If enrolled, your voter slip details will appear (Name, Age, Gender, Sl No, Part No).
